The Christian Grandparenting Podcast Trailer: How to Know Your Purpose as a Christian Grandparent

As a grandparent, how do you impact the faith of your

grandchildren? Do you know your purpose as a Christian grandparent?

These are questions worth exploring on The Christian Grandparenting Podcast.

Glad you’re here.

Hi, I'm Gayle Veitenheimer, your host for The Christian Grandparenting Podcast. Each week, I bring practical hands-on activities that teach Scripture and principles from God’s Word. I suggest prayers for intercession, as well as ways to build character and connect with your grandkids.

Finally, I bring encouragement.

Because to stay silent places future generations at risk.

I'm so glad you're listening. Let's walk this grandparenting journey together.

As a Christian grandparent, you have purpose.

Psalm 71:18 reads, “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare Your power to the next generation, Your mighty acts to all who are to come.”

Old and gray.

I turned sixty last year and it jolted me.

How did I get here?

The gray? Yeah, it's been there for a while, but old?

I prefer experienced.

My friend, author Tim Shoemaker, and I were talking last summer, and he shared this verse from

Psalm 71.

I’ll read it again:

“Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare Your power to the next generation, Your mighty acts to all who are to come.”

Let's dive into it. The psalmist makes a request in this verse: that God would not forsake him.

Well, no worries there. Hebrews 13:5 assures us of God's presence with us now . . . and always. “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” The author of Hebrews is quoting Deuteronomy 31:6.

But why does the psalmist make this request? He asks for God's presence, but what's driving his need for God?

“Till I declare Your power to the next generation, Your mighty acts to all who are to come.”

And, boy, do we need His presence to make that happen.

Because the thought of sharing God's greatness, of sharing His work in our own lives can be intimidating.

Especially in our cancel culture.

Put me in a church small group and I'll share till time’s up.

But outside of church? Yikes.

Because voices clamor.

You have to be sensitive.

You must choose your words carefully.

Don't be divisive.

That's your truth, not mine.

And when it comes to family? . . . Geez, do we even want to go there?

But we must.

Because to stay silent places future generations at risk.

To the culture.

To the world.

To the enemy.

Not someone else's grandkids. Mine. Ours.

That's not a risk I'm willing to take.

On the flip side, I don't want to miss out on the adventure of partnering with God.

I don’t want to miss seeing Him work in my grandkids’ lives.

So for me? No fear. No missing out. And no regrets.

I'm all in.

How? I'm going BIG and you can too. Stay tuned because here's what you can expect from my podcast:
